BACKGROUND & OBJECTIVE
Persistent pelvic pain is an umbrella term for pain in the pelvic girdle, genitals, viscera, and functional tolerance in these areas. To date there has not been consensus on necessary components of pain science education (PSE) for pelvic pain. Clinicians and researchers working with pelvic pain have been adapting evidence from studies of other pain conditions.
This e-Delphi study was developed and conducted to generate consensus among expert pelvic pain clinicians to identify important PSE concepts for females with pelvic pain.
Persistent pelvic pain is an umbrella term for pain in the pelvic girdle, genitals, viscera, and functional tolerance in these areas.
When delivering information to people who are suffering from or experiencing pain, the clinician must ensure that the patient knows that they are not being dismissed.
METHODS
- This was a three-round electronic Delphi survey. Participants were experienced, current clinicians who had practiced clinically within the past two years, had additional training in current concepts of pain science and had relevant qualifications in their clinical practice.
